Last October, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his German counterpart Heiko Maas discussed in a phone call the regional issues of common concern, as well as ways to advance the horizons of bilateral cooperation.

The spokesman stated that concerning the situation in the eastern Mediterranean region, the two ministers discussed efforts to restore stability to the region, especially after it witnessed an increasing state of tension during the recent period.

The minister affirmed Egypt's rejection of the policy of expansion and creating tension pursued by some regional parties, stressing that Egypt will coordinate and cooperate with its neighbors and friendly countries, to ensure that the desired security and peace reach all the peoples of the region.

Hafez explained that the call also witnessed discussions between the two ministers on several issues that were raised within the framework of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Shoukry and Maas praised what had been achieved in terms of developing relations between the two countries in many fields.
