CAIRO – 15 November 2020: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi extended condolences Saturday on the passing of Former Mali President Amadou Toumani Toure at 72.
The president said in a message that Egypt would never forget the efforts of Toure in reinforcing bilateral relations, and his remarkable role in developing Mali through a number of projects and initiatives in various sectors.
President Sisi added that Toure had always supported initiatives aimed at achieving stability and prosperity on the continent.
Toure was born in 1948, and served as military officer between 1969 and 2001. He became president in 2002 but his rule was terminated by a coup in 2012. Toure passed away on November 10 in Istanbul but the cause of death is unknown.
