CAIRO – 14 November 2020: Within the framework of encouraging investments in underserved Upper Egypt, the New Urban Communities Authority allocated Saturday 21 land plots at eight new cities in Upper Egypt for residential and commercial uses.
A land plot in New Aswan City's Touristic Neighborhood spanning over 20.3 feddans has been allocated to a residential project, including facilities.
Another in New Menya City will house residential and commercial projects.
Four land plots in New Sohag City will house a commercial project, a university, and a bakery shop.
Four others in New Qena City will be used for the same purposes.
Four land plots in New Asyut City are allocated to the construction of a shopping mall, residential buildings, office building, and a social club.
A land plot in Naser City – Western Asyut – will house a commercial project.
Three land plots in New Fayoum City will house a shopping mall, residential buildings, and a school.
Three others in New Tiba City are allocated for the same purposes in addition to an office building.
In a bid to cope with overpopulation, the Egyptian government is establishing 22 out of 50 four-generation cities planned to be accomplished by 2050, said Hani Younis, the spokesperson of the Cabinet on November 6.
At present, urban communities occupy just seven percent of Egypt's surface area but there is a target to make the percentage 12 percent.
