CAIRO - 7 November 2020: Egypt's voters across 13 governorates started on Saturday to cast their ballots in the second stage of the House of Representatives elections.



The two-day voting takes place in the governorates of Cairo, Qalioubiya, Daqahliya, Menoufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr Al-Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai from 9 am till 9 pm.

Gharbiya governorate



In Gharbiya governorate, 661 polling stations opened their doors to eligible voters to choose their representatives in the second phase amid preventive measures against the coronavirus, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing during the voting process.



For his part, Gharbiya Governor Tareq Rahmi called on all citizens to participate in the polls.

 

Qalioubiya governorate

 

In Qalioubiya governorate, 478 polling stations opened their doors to receive eligible voters to choose their representatives.



Qalioubiya Governor Abdel-Hamid el Hagan urged citizens to participate in the voting process. Hagan underlined the necessity of applying all preventive measures against the coronavirus during the two-day voting.

 

North Sinai governorate



In North Sinai governorate, 30 polling centers were ready to receive as many as 273,178 eligible voters.

 

Ismailia governorate



In Ismailia governorate, as many as 201 polling stations were open to receive the voters.



In statements on Saturday, Menoufiya Governor Ibrahim Abu Limon said an operations room was formed to follow up the voting process around the clock.

 

Port Said governorate

 

In Port Said governorate, 98 electoral centers opened their doors for voting from 9 am to receive as many as 515,790 eligible voters.

 

Port Said Governor Adel el Ghadban met with a number of voters who flocked to the polling centers to cast their ballots in the elections.

South Sinai governorate


South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda called on citizens to take part in the polls to choose their representatives.



Around 31 million Egyptians are eligible to cast their ballots in the second phase.



Some 2,083 candidates are competing for 70 individual seats, while 284 candidates are competing under the list system.

Damietta governorate



In Damietta governorate, 251 electoral centers opened their doors to receive eligible voters .



Daqahliya Governor Ayman Mokhtar said an operations room was formed to follow up the voting process in the governorate.

Suez governorate

 

In Suez governorate, all polling stations opened their doors for voters to choose their representatives in the second round of the parliamentary polls.
