CAIRO – 23 October 2020: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated Sudan on the recent developments regarding removing the country’s name from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The ministry also expressed its hope, Friday, that the recent U.S. decision would be a beginning of a phase in constructive relations between Sudan and the United States of America in a way that achieves the interests of both sides.
On October 20, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the understandings between Sudan and the United States of America on plans to remove Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
The ministry said in a press release that "Egypt congratulates the Sudanese people and authorities on taking this step, as it looks forward to ending the prolonged isolation and economic suffering that Khartoum has encountered."
Furthermore, Egypt voiced confidence that Sudan would restore its "effective role" at the Arab and African levels to achieve progress and prosperity.
Eerier Friday, the united states announced brokering a deal to normalize relations between Israel and Sudan. All three leaders of the United states, Sudan and Israel they agreed to begin economic and trade relations, with an initial focus on agriculture.
A joint statement issued by the three countries stated that: “The leaders agreed to the normalization of relations between Sudan and Israel and to end the state of belligerence between their nations.”
Egypt’s president Abdel Fatah welcomed efforts to normalize relations between Sudan and Israel.
“I welcome the joint efforts of the United States of America, Sudan and Israel regarding the normalization of relations between Sudan and Israel, and I value all efforts aimed at achieving regional stability and peace.” Sisi said in a tweet following the announcement by American president Donald Trump.
