CAIRO – 12 October 2020:  Egypt’s Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram contacted Attorney General Hamada El Sawy to address complains lodged by 300 Egyptian expats who were subjected to fraud by people who claimed they would bring them back to Kuwait after spending quarantine period in the UAE.

Makram also contacted minister of Tourism Khaled Anany to follow up with the expat’s situation.

Two company owners deceived expatriates seeking to return back to Kuwait and alleged they can do so after spending a 14-day quarantine period in the UAE - including flight reservations and CPR tests - at the cost ranging between EGP 17,000 and 20,000.

However, when the Egyptian expats knew that they have been deceived by bogus companies they contacted the Egyptian Immigration Ministry to help to return them into the country.

Earlier in October, the UAE hotels hosting the expats asked them to pay stay dues and check out after the companies stopped paying for their accommodation, according to the complaints.

The ministry concluded the statement by reaffirming that travelers to Kuwait must check the flight reservation documents for the entire trip and the hotel
