Egypt plays pivotal role in settling regional issues: Chinese amb. to MENA

CAIRO - 1 October 2020: Chinese ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang asserted on Thursday that Egypt plays a pivotal role to reach a political settlement to the hot issues in the Middle East.

In an interview with MENA on the 71st anniversary of founding China on Thursday, Liqiang said that Cairo and Beijing have similar stances towards these issues in light of their commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs and respect of the regional national sovereignty.

Egypt and China assert the importance of cooperation to eradicate extremism and terror, he said.

China strongly supports the states of the region to protect their national sovereignty and territories, Liqiang said.

China helped countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative in their efforts to combat COVID 19 pandemic, he said.
