CAIRO - 29 September 2020: Egypt has mourned with great sadness and sorrow Tuesday the death of his highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who died after "a life full of achievements in serving his people, his Arab and Islamic nation and supporting its causes."
"The Arab Republic of Egypt, in these painful circumstances, should remember with gratitude and appreciation the brotherly stances of Emir Sabah, and his outstanding fingerprints in the renaissance of Kuwait and the Arab and Islamic nations," said a Presidency statement.
The statement added, "he was a wise leader who devoted his life to the service of his people, his nation and all humanity, and his deeds and achievements will remain firm in the conscience and will keep him as a model to be followed in Leadership and giving."
On his official Twitter account, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi wrote: "I mourn with great sadness and sorrow the death of the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, as the Arab and Islamic nation lost a precious leader, and I express sincere condolences to the sisterly State of Kuwait, government and people."
Sisi further called upon the Almighty God to embrace the deceased in the breadth of his mercy and dwell him in his spaciousness.
Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has died Tuesday at 91 years old.
Kuwaiti TV began airing Quranic prayers, and many unconfirmed reports have been circulated on social media earlier Tuesday on the death of the emir.
Last July, the head of the Emir’s office announced that the Kuwaiti Emir had successfully undergone surgery.
