CAIRO – 14 September 2020: A military plane took off from East Cairo Air Base heading to Khartoum Airport loaded with tons of food items, which are prepared by a number of civil society institutions in Egypt in coordination with the Sudanese side.

This comes per the instructions given by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to continue a relief air bridge to support Sudanese people after a huge flood hit the country and left several damages and casualties.

Sudanese officials commended the Egyptian leadership and people for standing in solidarity with the Sudanese people. They expressed their sincere gratitude to this airlift that continued flowing from brotherly Egypt over the past period.

Dozens of people have been killed in Sudan and South Sudan, after deadly floods had hit the countries as the Nile reached its highest level in a hundred years. Hundreds of thousands were displaced as a result.
