CAIRO, Sept 9 (MENA) – Minister of State for Immigration Nabila Makram reviewed on Wednesday efforts exerted to implement 'Survival Boats' initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh last year, that aims at combating illegal migration.
This came during today’s cabinet meeting.
She noted that the 'Survival Boats' presidential initiative had worked on raising the awareness concerning the dangers of illegal migration, noting that the ministry also pointed out at the alternative and legal means to immigrate.
This came in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the National Council for Women and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, the minister said.
She noted that the ministry had earlier signed with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Egypt a $2 million agreement to establish a center for jobs, migration and reintegration.
Makram said the first-of-its-kind center is providing Egyptian job seekers with information about the labor market in Germany.
The project is one of the alternatives to illegal migration, she said, adding that the center will also work on providing job opportunities for Egyptian expats returning from abroad.
