CAIRO – 1 September 2020: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat assured that citizens’ data “are secured in a way that preserves confidentiality on the newly-launched Egyptian digital platform The Digital Egypt.”
Launched on Wednesday, The Digital Egypt, or (as known in Arabic as Misr al-Rakamia), is a portal that offers 70 e-services covering ration system, driving licenses, notarial certificates, and electronic filing of lawsuits among others.
In his TV statements, Minister Talaat said that the platform applies intensive security standards to protect confidentiality and safety of personal information when transferred, stored or modified, adding that among these security standards is the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Technology or aka (HTTPS).
The platform can be visited on the website (www.Misralrakamia.gov.eg,) and includes five packages for digitized government services namely “Supply, Licenses, My Vehicles, Documentation and Courts.”
It allows citizens to obtain their governmental services in a very short period of time, compared to heading to government installations.
Digital transformation is an essential part of Egypt’s economic diversification plan, and the National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2030, laid down by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which is a guideline aimed at transforming Egypt into a central hub for communications and technology at the regional and global levels.
