Egypt’s COVID-19 recovery rate jumps to 67.7 %

CAIRO – 24 August 2020:  Egypt recorded 67.7 percent recovery rate of coronavirus on Monday, according to Health Ministry which affirmed that all quarantine hospitals in Egypt has reached that rate for the first time since the outbreak of the virus.

Egypt has witnessed a huge decline in COVID-19 infection rates during the past time, along with increase in the recovery rate. On August 18, the Ministry announced that the recovery rate has reached 55.1 percent, with 52,678 recovered cases.

On Sunday, The Health Ministry said that 103 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 97,340.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 19 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,262.

As many as 809 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 65,927 so far, the spokesman said.

Earlier, Health Minister Hala Zayed affirmed that Egypt has passed the first wave of the novel virus, as Egypt has been recording a decreasing number of cases.
