CAIRO - 23 August 2020: Head of the Diwan of the Supreme Council of the Sheikhs and notables of Libya Mohamed Al-Misbahi praised Egyptian Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s role in solving the Libyan crisis.
“Egypt, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, played a major role in solving the Libyan crisis,” he said in a call with the “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” program on the “Al-Hayat” T.V. channel on Saturday evening.
He stressed that peace will not be achieved in Libya if Turkish existence does not end. Misbahi also praised President Sisi’ welcoming for the newly-declared cease-fire initiative by Libyan Presidential Council, which is led by Fayez Al-Sarraj, and Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Agila Saleh.
Both Libyan leaders called for demilitarize the oil-rich area of Jafa-Sirte. The Libyan government, headed by Sarraj, called for holding Presidential and Parliamentary elections in March.
“I welcome the statements issued by the Presidential Council and the House of Representatives in Libya to cease fire and stop the military operations in all Libyan territories, as it represents an important step to achieve a political settlement and meet the aspirations of the Libyan people to restore stability and prosperity in Libya and to preserve the capabilities of its people,” President Sisi tweeted on Friday.
