CAIRO – 20 August 2020: The head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, Reverend Andre Zaki decided to resume mass worship for all days of the week, including Friday, as of August 28.

The decision comes within the framework of the plan to resume worship at all evangelical churches in Egypt, which was decided to gradually return from August 3, taking into account all precautionary measures, which are explained in the instructions on the official website and the social media pages of the Evangelical Sect.

The Head of the Evangelical Church Zaki ensured that attention and caution must be taken in the coming period to avoid any new infections with Coronavirus.

Zaki has previously decided to resume worship at churches on Sundays, while remain halting it on Fridays until further notice, as part of the gradual return of worship after a long halt in the wake of the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced Wednesday, in a press conference, that Friday prayers will be back in large mosques starting August 28 under strict COVID-19 preventive measures.

He said that the duration of the Friday sermon, which precedes the prayer, will not exceed 10 minutes under the new guidelines. All worshippers will be obliged to wear face masks and maintain social distancing in addition to using their personal prayer mats while attending the prayer at the mosque.
