CAIRO – 15 August 2020: Alexandria Port receives Saturday models of Spanish train vehicles as part of the contract with Spanish Company Talgo, in preparation for supplying the first batch of these vehicles in March 2021.
The deal includes supplying six trains at a cost of 125.6 million Euros, including 90 vehicles, six locomotives and 30 first-class air-conditioned vehicles, 48 second-class air-conditioned, six power vehicles and six other vehicles to serve drinks and food.
These vehicles are manufactured by the Spanish company Talgo, besides six locomotives manufactured by the U.S. Company Progress Rail Locomotive.
The new vehicles are made of aluminum, which reduces its weight, and helps save the train’s fuel consumption on the trip, as it is also resistant to rust, and does not corrode from water.
They also include places dedicated for people with disabilities. Each seat has a screen installed in it to display movies, in addition to main screens and surveillance cameras installed in the vehicles.
