CAIRO - 11 August 2020: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Tuesday cast his ballot in the Senate elections in the electoral committee of the Egyptian-Japanese school in Sheikh Zayed city.

The PM urged all Egyptians who have the right to vote to participate in the elections in light of democracy that Egypt enjoys.

The elections, he added, contribute to creating the second chamber of the legislative body to guarantee full representation of the Egyptian society.

 

Voters begin to gather outside polling places before voting starts

 

Queues of voters wearing medical masks, keeping safe distance from each others and carrying disinfectants can be seen outisde polling stations. 

 

A total of 63 million Egyptian registered voters are entitled to vote in the 2020 Senate elections, distributed among 14 thousand and 92 sub-committees, under full judicial supervision, with the participation of 18,000 judges and the assistance of 120,000 employees.

 

The voting of Egyptians abroad ended by mail in 124 countries, on Monday at 9:00 pm according to the local time for each country, which took place on August 9 and 10, while the internal elections will be held on 11 and 12 August. The final results of the Senate elections August 16.

 

In case of a re-election, elections will be held abroad on Sunday and Monday (September 6 and 7), and in Egypt on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 8 and 9).

 

The General Command of the Armed Forces had taken all measures to secure the 2020 Senate elections nationwide, and provide a safe environment for citizens to cast their votes.
