CAIRO – 18 June 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday evening sent a cable to Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to congratulate him on the successful heart surgery he recently underwent and to wish Morocco further development and prosperity.
“It is my pleasure to express to you my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your recovery by the success of the surgery. I pray to God that he provides you with full health and wellness and guide your steps toward continuing your wise leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco, to achieve further growth, development and prosperity,” the cable read.
King Mohammed VI, 56, has undergone the surgery in the capital, Rabat, to treat a non-life-threatening heart rhythm disorder known as atrial flutter, state’s news agency MAP reported.
The king had undergone a similar surgery two years earlier in the French capital, Paris, as he had his heart beating less efficiently.
In July last year, Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation left Cairo after concluding his one-day visit, during which he delivered a message from the Moroccan King to President Sisi on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two states.
During the meeting between the two ministers, they discussed progress in a number of areas of bilateral cooperation, affirming the importance of intensifying work towards exploring new horizons for joint cooperation in various fields, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Sisi, a year earlier, also sent a cable of greetings to the King on the anniversary of the king's accession to the Throne.
Sisi delegated presidential secretary Mohamed Yehia to the Moroccan Embassy in Cairo to offer greetings on the 19th anniversary of the monarch's accession to the Throne.
