Egyptians celebrate Eid al-Fitr after performing Eid prayer at El-Sedeek Mosque- Hazem Abdel Samad
CAIRO – 25 June 2017: Millions of Egyptians performed Eid al-Fitr prayer nationwide on Sunday, celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims fasted from dawn to sunset.

The Ministry of Endowment has allocated a total of 5,020 areas for performing the prayer, the first Islamic ritual of the three-day festival. Some of the allocated praying areas were set in vicinity of some churches.

After the prayer, the Egyptians greet each other and give the children gifts of sweets and money; they usually eat desserts of Kahk (Eid cookies), and biscuits.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, along with a number of ministers and statesmen, performed Eid prayer at Mohammed Korayem Mosque, in Alexandria Governorate.
