Egypt joins Italy, IOM anti-illegal immigration campaign

CAIRO -23 June 2017: Egypt has joined a campaign for raising awareness against the risks of the illegal immigration, chairperson of the National Coordinating Committee on Preventing and Combating Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons Naela Gabr said on Friday.

Launched by Italy in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the campaign called "aware migrant" aims at raising awareness against the risks of the illegal immigration through making migrants narrating their real stories about their sufferings during their risky voyages.

Egypt's participation in this campaign came as part of its international and regional cooperation with the specialized bodies concerned with fighting the illegal immigration, Gabr said.

Such stories will be circulated in pamphlets to the bodies concerned and the embassies to reach the target people, she added.
