Egypt’s Sisi discuss COVID19 updates with Bahraini counterpart King Hamad bin Isa

CAIRO – 12 May 2020: Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al Sisi discussed the latest updates regarding Coronavirus, COVID19 pandemic with his Bahraini counterpart King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during a phone call, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi, Tuesday.

Radi added that the two leaders also discussed issues related to bilateral relations between Egypt and Bahrain, within the framework of cooperation between the two countries. They shed light on the recent developments regarding number of regional cases.

Sisi and Hamad reviewed the efforts exerted by the two countries to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus. It was also agreed during the call on a joint coordination in this framework through exchanging the best experiences along with enhancing communication between the organizations in the two countries.

On May 7, Sisi issued a decree approving a customs cooperation agreement between Egypt and Bahrain, the official gazette published on Thursday.The agreement was signed in Manama in November 2018.

In November last year, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa underlined keenness of Egypt and Bahrain on enhancing bilateral relations in the different fields.

He also underscored the importance of maintaining coordination regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Also in November, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa hailed his country's strong relations with Egypt and affirmed Bahrain's keenness to continue developing and enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, in a way that meets the common interests of the peoples of the two sisterly countries, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
