CAIRO- 22 June 2017: Egyptian-Canadian Journalist Mohamed Fahmy stated that Al Jazeera channels “illegally used the technology in the Egyptian State TV broadcast truck” that was violently stolen by members of Muslim Brotherhood in the Rabaa Al Adweya sit-in in 2013.
“On July 4, 2013 we were surprised that the State TV truck was used to broadcast the “Rabaa Adweya” sit-in to Al Quds and Al Aqsa TV channels,” Fahmy added in a press conference a press conference in Washington on what happened during his trial in Egypt and the Al-Jazeera’s editorial policy in the Arab region.
" The technicians were assaulted by supporters of the former president and kicked out of the sit-in, he added.
Fahmy had spent more than a year in prison in Egypt where he was accused of ties to an alleged terrorist organization as well as reporting false news with the aim of spreading chaos.
Fahmy quoted former Al Jazeera English Security Guard, called Ahmed Gamal Said, saying “when I was working for Al-Jazeera English Channel in Rabiaa’ Protest, which was led by the Muslim Brotherhood, I saw the members of the organization forcibly taking over the Egyptian state television’s car, and cooperated with all the channels and journalists of Al Jazeera during the protest and allowed Al Jazeera English , Al Jazeera Arabic and Al Jazeera Mubasher to broadcast live on the air using the technology available in the car.”
He added that Qatar-owned al Jazeera network is sponsoring groups of the outlawed Muslim brotherhood and al-Qaeda-affiliate in Syria Al Nusra.
