CAIRO – 22 April 2020: Egypt’s Cairo Metro announced that they will be adhering to the curfew timing announced by the government during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Metro authorities said that any new changing for the currant curfew time will be followed with changing in the operation timing.
Currently, all three lines of Cairo Metro start operating at 6 a.m. and last operating metro in the first line leaves Helwan station at 19:15 p.m.
Since mid-March, Egypt has taken certain strict measures to protect the public from the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The government has taken gradual steps in dealing with the coronavirus spread, starting with suspending schools and universities, as well as international flights.
Furthermore, a night-time curfew was imposed on March 24, 2020, while all restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, casinos, night clubs, bars, shopping centers (malls), and other local shops shut down completely until April 23.
On Tuesday, Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced recording 157 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths.
According to Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed, the new cases raise Egypt’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 3490 and deaths to 264.
All positive cases are placed under quarantine at isolation hospitals, the spokesman said.
He added that 49 of those infected with coronavirus were discharged from hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care. The total number of recoveries so far reached 870.
Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta announced Wednesday, that Friday April 24, marks the first day of the holy month of Ramdan.
