Interior Ministry seizes graft cases worth L.E. 1.9 bn

CAIRO – 11 April 2020: The Economic Security sector at the Ministry of interior directed large security crackdowns targeting all forms of lawless actions, resulted in seizing 7,149 various catering items and corruption cases worth L.E. 1.9 billion.

Police of Supply seized this week 12,008 hidden gas cylinders, and food supplies weighed 301,095 tons as well as 45 cases of selling subsidized items in the black market.

Electricity Police also succeeded in seizing 57,474 cases of electricity theft and violation of contracts terms.

The security crackdowns further managed to seizing 1,024 cases of tax evasion and public funds, including 226 public tax cases, 116 cases of evading value-added taxes, 12 cases in the field of customs, and 4 cases in the protection of state funds and properties. Among the seized cases are 15 in the fields of combating crimes, "illicit financial transfers - trading in foreign exchange", and six cases in the areas of crimes "seizure of public money" Bank fraud - illicit gain " worth L.E. 1.9 billion.
