Sisi reviews gov't measures to meet people's needs ahead of Eid el-Fitr

CAIRO - 20 June 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi reviewed on Tuesday the government's measures to meet the people's needs, maintain the availability of commodities and foodstuff and control the market prices ahead of Eid el-Fitr.

Sisi's move came at a meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, the Central Bank of Egypt Governor Tarek Amer as well as the ministers of defense and military production, interior, justice, finance, supply and internal trade.

The meeting also touched on the readiness of hospitals and parks to receive citizens on Eid el-Fitr, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

Meanwhile, the conferees discussed measures taken by the government to increase the supply of meat, chicken and fish.

On that score, the meeting took up means of encouraging the private sector to open more outlets for basic commodities across the country.

President Sisi issued directives to impose fines on violators and price manipulators.

The president also underscored the importance of maintaining balance between raising the growth rates and reaching financial stability on one side, and achieving social justice on the other.

Separately, the meeting addressed the latest developments of the economic situation and the measures taken by the government to revive economy, which resulted in achieving the highest level of foreign reserves in Egyptian banks since 2011.
