CAIRO, March 25 (MENA) - The police will take any actions necessary to ensure the effective enforcement of the curfew decision announced Tuesday to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik warned.
The minister made the remarks on Wednesday during his field visits to follow up implementation of the deployment plans of the police personnel assigned to enforce the dusk-to-dawn curfew as part of the government precautionary plan to ensure citizens' safety and security.
Tawfik promised to take strict and decisive action against curfew violators or those who fail to take the state's decisions seriously.
However, the minister urged police forces to treat citizens well while enforcing the state's security measures, taking into account their humanitarian needs, especially those of elderly people and patients.
He noted that police authorities' success in their current mission is reliant on citizens' cooperation, underlining the urgent need for united efforts to overcome this crisis.
