CAIRO - 13 March 2020: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Friday praised the great efforts exerted by all workers at different state bodies to deal with the wave of bad weather the hit large parts of the country.
Madbouli made the remarks while he was chairing a meeting at the cabinet's operations room to follow up the bad weather fallout.
Around 20 people died of the extreme weather, the prime minister added, extending his condolences to their families.
The premier lauded the full coordination among all state bodies to handle the unprecedented bad weather conditions.
The extreme weather led to a suspension of train movement and the navigation traffic, he noted.
The state is in an urgent need to re-plan some sewage networks to be able to absorb larger quantities of water, especially in light of the current climate change that the country witnesses, the prime minister said.
Madbouli explained that he assigned all governores to suspend classes at all schools and universities, so that the bodies concerned could deal with the impacts of heavy rains.
