CAIRO - 10 March 2020: Schools and universities will be suspended on Thursday due to the bad weather expected.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made the decision after receiving a report from the Meteorological Authority on the weather Thursday-Saturday, where heavy rain may fall and a sandy storm may blow.
The suspension will leave room for official facilities to deal efficiently with the aftermath of the rain, PM spokesperson Nader Saad said.

The rain and strong winds will reach the North Coast, the Nile Delta, the governorates overlooking Suez Canal, as well as the Gulf of Suez cities.

Such weather usually results in extremely heavy traffic in Cairo due to poor infrastructure that drains rainfall, and amounts to floods on Sinai, the Gulf of Suez, parts of the Red Sea Mountain Range and the far south of the country.
