CAIRO - 5 March 2020: CEO of Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge Moushira Khattab praised Wednesday the support of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Egyptian women.
Sisi spares no effort in protecting women’s rights, as he believes in their vital role in the society, Khattab said in a speech she delivered at the 35th annual Women World Economic Forum (WWEF), held in Egypt for the first time.
Women in Egypt enjoy many rights compared to the past, as the state, under Sisi, has played a great role for empowering women in the political domain, Khattab added.
The current cabinet includes eight female ministers, in addition to this women enjoy good representation in the House of Representatives, she remarked.
The Egyptian Constitution doesn’t differentiate between men and women, and there are several laws and regulations that penalize anyone abusing women or trying to deprive them of their rights, such as their inheritance for instance, Khattab added.
