CAIRO - 28 January 2020: A military source told Russia Today that the Arab Syrian Army restored control over Ma`arat al-Nu`man city, which used to be Al Nusra Front stronghold southern Idlib, as well as Wadi Deif Base.
The victory was followed by the capture of Kafar Roma town bordering Ma`arat al-Nu`man, and other 15 villages and towns in the area in addition to blocking the road between Ma`arat al-Nu`man and Saraqib city.
Most territories in Idlib fall within a de-escalation zone that includes parts of Homs, Latakia, and Aleppo, and houses 12 Turkish control points.
The militants have been attacking the Syrian Armed Forces sites since December triggering counterattacks that liberated hundreds of square kilometers from armed groups.
