Government continues campaign against squatters in Alex

CAIRO – 18 June 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has ordered the evacuation of squatters from lands that belong to Islamic and Coptic Antiquities Authority, Director General of the Islamic and Coptic Monuments in Alexandria Mohamed Metwally announced Friday.

Metwally also affirmed that all lands belonging to the Islamic Antiquities Authority in Alexandria, about 129 thousand square meters, got evacuated from squatters.
He pointed out that there were about 55 land violation cases.

The State campaign against squatters started in early May after President Sisi ordered the army and police to investigate and reclaim all illegally acquired state lands. His statement came during the Youth Conference in Ismailia in April.
