CAIRO - 31 December 2019: Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday welcomed the Arab League Council's decision to reject foreign interference in Libya's domestic affairs.
In a statement, Abul Gheit noted that the meeting saw an Arab consensus on the situation in Libya, expressing concern over the military escalation in the Arab country.
According to an official source at the AL General Secretariat, Abul Gheit affirmed that non-Arab military interference in Arab countries' affairs is totally rejected.
Earlier, the council called on the secretary-general to make contact with all bodies concerned, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to reach a solution to the Libyan crisis and stop any military interference there.
