ABU DHABI, Dec 25 (MENA) - Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit asserted that restoring the collective Arab security is an essential key in dealing with the state of uncertainty that is prevailing in the world.
Delivering a lecture at the UAE Center for Strategic Studies and Researches, Abul Gheit noted that establishing a collective security system requires consensus among its members on a number of key priorities.
He urged the Arab countries to address their security priorities with an all-out clarity and transparency in order to serve the Arab national security as a whole.
He said Iran, Turkey and Israel are representing imminent threats to the Arab national security with various degrees, adding that keeping the Palestinian issue without any solution could weaken the Arabs' ability to stand against Iranian threats and political attempts to destabilize the region.
He also said that Turkish and Iranian threats are very much clear in Syria and now a serious Turkish threat in Libya has become obvious to all, describing all such challenges as posing a major danger to Arab national security.
Abul Gheit voiced his admiration of the UAE's policies at home and abroad, noting that the UAE has presented many initiatives and made quick responses with crises to cope up with any emerging changes at the Arab front.
He urged Arab countries to work on enhancing their efforts to achieve their common interests and work on the same track to deter any possible threats and risks endangering the Arab region.
