WASHINGTON - 10 December 2019: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described his talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Washington on Monday night as "productive".
Posting on his Twitter account, Pompeo said "I had a productive meeting today with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on ways our strategic partnership can help achieve greater regional security and prosperity."
During his visit to Washington, Shoukry took part in the second expanded meeting grouping the foreign and irrigation ministers of the three Nile basin countries; Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, on assessing the results of the Renaissance Dam talks.
The US Department of Treasury hosted the second expanded meeting which involved World Bank Group President David Malpass.
The first meeting engaging the three countries' ministers was held in Washington on November 6.
