GIZA, Egypt, Dec 4 (MENA) - Giza governorate has denied circulating reports claiming that cases of meningitis have been detected in a number of schools in Al Omrania district.

In a statement on Wednesday, Giza Governor Ahmed Rashed said that the municipal health affairs directorate has asserted that there have been no confirmed cases of meningitis in any schools or in any area in the governorate.

All precautionary measures are taken towards any suspected cases, Rashed underscored.

The Giza health affairs directorate is currently vaccinating the targeted categories of school students to protect them from meningitis, he said, adding that the vaccination campaign has already covered 80% of the governorate.

Work is under way to vaccinate the rest, he said.
