CAIRO - 2 December 2019: Egyptian ministers have concluded a successful business mission to the UK to explore new opportunities of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister of Transport, Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Dr Sahar Nasr, Minister of Finance, Dr Mohamed Maait, and Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Eng Yehia Zaki were part of a three-day mission to UK.
The mission was organized by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA), promoted investment in strategic sectors such as transportation, education, and healthcare.
Minister El Wazir visited Bombardier’s manufacturing facility in Derby. In May, Bombardier Transportation UK was selected as the preferred bidder in the Administrative Capital’s monorail project. The project includes a 54km line connecting the New Administrative City with East Cairo and a 42km line connecting 6th October City with Giza.

Commenting on the visit, British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams said: “We were delighted to welcome such a strong delegation of Egyptian Ministers and businessmen to the UK. Visits such as this pave the way to stronger economic cooperation and mutual prosperity for our countries.
Chairman of BEBA Khaled Nosseir said: “The UK and Egypt are strategic partners, and British businesses remain Egypt’s leading investors. As part of BEBA’s role to support Egypt’s sustainable growth, our fifth annual business mission aimed to explore potential partnerships and bilateral investment opportunities. The mission had combined meetings with public officials as well as business-to-business meetings.”
Earlier this month, Minister at the Department for International Development Baroness Elizabeth Sugg participated in the Africa Investment Forum. Baroness Sugg’s visit demonstrated the UK’s commitment to investing in Africa’s future. In January 2020, the UK will host the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London, which will bring together African political and business leaders, with the UK Government, investors and international institutions.
