CAIRO, Nov 26 (MENA) - Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission (AUC) Amani Abou-Zeid hailed Egypt's achievements in the infrastructure domain.
In statements on the fringe of the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa "PIDA Week 2019" which Egypt hosts until Thursday, she said the African Union calls for adopting the high-quality Egyptian model for developing the infrastructure across Africa.
Abou-Zeid said she visited the New Administrative Capital and saw its outstanding infrastructure there.
She said the African continent drew up the 2063 Agenda to accomplish several mega projects, including infrastructure programs.
She highlighted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's speech at the Africa Investment Forum on the importance of developing infrastructure to realize a quantum leap in Africa.
She added that infrastructure projects are being examined, noting that such regional projects and trans-border projects need huge investments amounting to about dlrs 100 to 130 billion annually.
She said no state can bear such huge investments alone, noting that efforts are underway to encourage the private sector and investment and funding institutions to engage in such mammoth ventures.
