CAIRO - 24 November 2019: Upon the directives of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the executive authorities in Beheira Governorate intensified their efforts to implement the project of Rashid development at an estimated cost of LE 2 billion.

In the last Youth Forum, President Sisi directed the executive authorities to complete the project in a maximum of 3 years.

The development plan includes restoring the Islamic archaeological areas, completing the national projects, and developing the slums and infrastructure of Rashid(a port city of the Nile Delta), according to Beheira Governor Hisham Amna on Saturday.

Amna told Egypt Today that the project is one of the largest projects in Egypt.Once implemented, the project will turn the city into an open museum for Islamic monuments.He added that the development works had started in 2008 but had to be suspended in 2011 after January 25 Revolution.

As for the establishment of the first fishing port in Beheira, project manager Mustafa Ismail said that more than 85 percent of the project has been completed on an area of 48,000 meters and at an initial cost of LE 475 million.

Moreover, Ismail pointed out that about 117 housing units and nine shops worth LE 21 million have been delivered to their beneficiaries as part of the efforts to develop slums.
