CAIRO, Oct 28 (MENA) - Chairman of the Parliament's Constitutional and Legislative Committee Bahaa Abu Shoka praised Monday Egypt's deeply-rooted ties with China.
This came during the senior lawmaker's meeting with the head of the Chinese legislature's legislative committee at the premises of the House of Representative in Cairo.
Welcoming the Chinese lawmaker and his accompanying delegation, Abu Shoka underscored Egypt's keenness on furthering and broadening the scope of bilateral cooperation at various levels and underlined the importance of China’s support to Egypt's political moves at international forums concerning national, regional and global issues.
He also applauded China's vital contributions to Egypt's national development efforts, especially the New Administrative Capital project as well as energy and transport ventures.
Moreover, Abu Shoka touched upon the projects under way in the Suez Canal Economic Zone where the state is capitalizing on China's outstanding expertise in many fields.
The senior MP also commended cooperation between both countries in fighting terrorism.
Cairo is looking forward to the Chinese government’s taking further steps to increase Egypt's exports to China and facilitate the access of Egyptian products to the Chinese market, Abu Shoka noted during the meeting.
Furthermore, Abu Shoka shed light on the remarkable increase in Chinese tourists to Egypt, which amounted to 400,000 in 2018 as indicated by the Chinese ambassador in Cairo in March.
The Chinese senior lawmaker asserted his country's keenness on furthering bilateral cooperation, especially in light of Egypt's pivotal role in the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) due to its strategic location as a gateway to Africa.
