CAIRO, 22 Oct 2019: The State's presidential committee tasked with legalizing unlicensed churches approved on Tuesday the legalization of 64 churches and affiliated buildings, taking the number of legalized churches and Coptic buildings nationwide to 1,235.

The move was made during a meeting of the committee that was chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli in the presence of the justice minister.

Representatives of the parliamentary affairs, local development and housing ministries were present at the meeting, alongside a host of officials, cabinet spokesman Nader Saad said.

The committee reviewed a report on the situation of churches and the progress made in the legalization file since the committee's latest meeting on September 23, he added.
