House speaker says unified front needed in face of threats

CAIRO, Oct 1 (MENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal has stressed the importance of having a unified internal front to counter threats facing Egypt.

Addressing the fifth regular session, which started earlier Tuesday, Abdel Aal said Egypt lies in the heart of a troubled and unstable region.

Conflicts are everywhere around Egypt, he said, voicing appreciation for the national role played by the military and police to protect the country.

Abdel Aal said he spared no effort to support democratic practices, vowing the House will always remain a platform of dialogue for the majority, minority and independent members.
