FILE: Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry
CAIRO - 27 September 2019: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri asserted Egypt’s desire to boost its relationship with the Netherlands during a meeting he held in New York City on Thursday with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a press statement that the Egyptian top diplomat praised the relations between the two countries which date back to the twenties of the 20th century, underlining the importance of giving them a stronger impetus through increased interaction and communication.
Shoukri affirmed that Egypt looks forward to developing cooperation with the Netherland in various economic domains, commending the performance of Dutch companies operating in the Egyptian market, Hafez also said.
He urged the Dutch side to benefit from the promising investment and trade opportunities which the market in Egypt offers in light of the comprehensive economic reforms that are being successfully carried out by the government and the ambitious mammoth national projects it is implementing nationwide, according to the spokesman.
Talks between the ministers took up regional and international issues of mutual concern and the latest developments in the Middle East region and in the file of the controversial Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project, he said.
