Britain’s Johnson praises Egypt’s economy during talks with Sisi

CAIRO – 25 September 2019: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi expressed his appreciation for the fruitful dialogue he had with the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the current United Nation General Assembly in US New York, said presidency spokesperson Bassam Radi.

Sisi said he is looking forward to stronger bilateral relations between Egypt and Britain and more cooperation in tourism, security and politics fields in order to adopt the same stance on regional and international topics.

On the other hand, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was keen to praise Egypt’s economic performance noting that the Egyptian economy is witnessing an obvious improvement, said Radi.

Johnson asserted his country’s desire to advance the bilateral relations with Egypt to include various fields, expressing his appreciation for the Egyptian role in the Middle East to realize stability and peace in the troubled region.

The presidency spokesperson said that the two leaders tackled efforts to curb terrorism and extremism, how to enhance exchanging information and preventing funding for terrorist activities.

The meeting also addressed the current developments in the Middle East region such as the unrest in Libya, the civil war in Syrian and the crisis in Yemen, as both leaders agreed to increase the efforts aiming to realize a comprehensive political resolution in order to restore stability and development, added Radi.
