CAIRO – 24 September 2019: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met, Tuesday with Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

According to presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady, Sisi said that Egypt and Lebanon enjoy a very ‘special relations’.

Sisi also expressed Egypt's wishes to Aoun’s government to succeed in meeting the aspirations of the Lebanese people achieving further progress, security and stability.

For his part, the Lebanese President praised the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries, expressing his country's appreciation to Egypt as a key pillar in supporting and maintaining stability in Lebanon and the Arab region.

The two leaders discussed ways for enhancing Egypt and Lebanon’s bilateral cooperation frameworks, including the possibility of benefiting from the Egyptian expertise in fields of electricity, infrastructure and energy projects.
According to Rady; Sisi and Aoun discussed the political situation in Syria along with other conflicts in the region.

Earlier, Sisi met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron as he praised the strong relations between Egypt and France.

Macron described the relation between the two countries as “strong and historical”. He added that these relations are backed by the cultural bonds between both of the Egyptian and French people.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed the Libyan crises and its latest political developments.

The statement added that both of Sisi and Macron’s opinions agreed on intensifying the joint efforts and international cooperation seeking a comprehensive political solution for the crises.

Sisi also met with his Hungarian counterpart János Áder and Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
