Egypt’s economic reforming plan is most ambitious in history: Sisi at UNGA 74

CAIRO – 24 September 2019: Several issues were tackled by President Abdel Fattah al Sisi during his speech at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, including: wars in Palestine, Libya, Yemen and Syria.

Sisi also referred to the latest threats that was posed on the Saudi Arabian oil facilities “Aramco”, saying that these threats are completely unacceptable.

He also referred to the government’s economic reforming program, describing it as “the biggest, most ambitious in history”. He added that Egyptians take all credit for bearing the country’s reforming program consequences.

Sisi said that Egypt as a founding member of the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU) has always a vision and participates to face the international challenges and problems.

Regarding terrorism, Sisi clarified that Egypt has an experience for setting a plan to develop the country through countering terrorism and has always called for a comprehensive solution to face it internationally.





“Egypt has always demanded a comprehensive solution for confronting terrorism and we are able to cooperate with other countries and governments along with the UN to fight terrorism and extremism speech” Sisi stated.

Sisi called on removing Sudan from the terrorist list so the country could achieve the economic goals of which the Sudanese people aspire for their country.

He further called on the international organizations to consider the economic chances in the continent, describing Africa as the “continent of chances”.

Middle East conflicts

As per the wars and conflicts in the Middle East region, Sisi said that the Palestinian conflict needs “brave solutions” to end Palestinians' sufferings.

He also pointed out that Libya is still suffering due to the armed conflict; and that all parties in the countries should abide by the UN plan to ease the crises, reaching a political solution.

He also referred to the armed war of which Syria has been suffering through the past years, adding that an urgent solution should be reached for the Yemeni crises.

Finally, Sisi talked about Ethiopia’s Grand Dam problem saying that it is considered to be a matter of “life and existence” to Egypt, of which “we still hope to reach a consensual solution with other parties to it.”

At the end of his speech, Sisi called all international and Arab countries and governments to work collectively towards a world filled with peace.
