CAIRO - 12 September 2019: Egypt's national youth conferences are one of the most prominent weapons to fight against fourth generation wars, and represent an interactive platform for the exchange of visions and opinions between state institutions and the youth, without any red lines, a parliamentary official said.
The fourth generation warfare dates back to 1980 and can be defined simply as a conflict where politics is mixed with war and combatants are mixed with civilians.
Ashraf Rashad, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, said the 8th edition of the NYC, scheduled for Saturday September 14th in Cairo's Fifth Settlement district, complements the plans and efforts of the state towards building bridges of trust with the youth.
The conference also contributes to politically, economically and socially empower young people, as well as to immunize them against extremist thoughts, Rashad said.
Concerning "Ask the President" session, which comes as a main part of every NYC, Rashad said it has created a state of mental and intellectual communication between the president and all the Egyptian people, and gave full freedom to ask questions to the president. He added that the president answers these questions logically and clearly.
The Saturday conference will discuss the issue of terrorism and the fourth generation warfare against the state, local media revealed.
The NYC has been receiving since Tuesday registration requests from people willing to attend its 8th edition in Cairo's Fifth Settlement district, in the presence of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. People who seek invitations to attend the conference can register on egyouth.com.
The conference also started receiving citizens' questions that President Sisi will answer during the session of "Ask the President". Citizens can send questions on askthepresident.net until Friday.
The one-day conference will be divided into three sessions - a session that would assess the local and regional experience of combating terrorism, a session on the impact of spreading lies on the state in light of the fourth generation warfare, and finally the "Ask the President" session.
The conference is set to be attended by 1,600 participants. Those include members of the Presidential Leadership Program (PLP), university students, young politicians, young engineers working in national projects, young physicians, and young businessmen.
