CAIRO - 8 September 2019: Former Finnish President Tarja Halonen said she is following up current plans to develop the educational process in Egypt, expressing her country's desire to offer its experiment in this regard.
In an interview with MENA on Sunday on the sidelines of her current visit to Egypt, the official underlined the importance of upgrading education as a main step in the development process of any nation.
Halonen, who also acts as head of University of Helsinki board of trustees, said Egypt faces many challenges while carrying out its plans to develop education, hoping that it will benefit from the Regional Information Technology and Software Engineering Center (RITSEC).
Today, the RITSEC in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy in Egypt will launch later in the day a new initiative entitled “The regional initiative for knowledge and innovation.”
The initiative aims to support the development of Egypt’s information technology community, according to a statement from the Finnish embassy to Cairo on Friday.
