CAIRO 4 September 2019: Egypt Border guards aborted during August infiltration and illegal immigration attempts by 217 people of various nationalities.
According to a Wednesday statement by Egypt’s military spokesperson, this was achieved thanks to the vigilance and tireless efforts by border security forces to confront saboteurs and smugglers to protect national security.
About 58 law breakers were arrested during August and all legal measures were taken against them.
Border troops also seized 30 kilograms of hashish, 309,000 Tramadol tablets alongside other narcotics.
The forces seized as well explosive materials and weapons, including two RPGs, one sniper rifle and a number of automatic and machine-guns.
On August 2, the border guard announced seizing 18 bombs, 46 projectiles and 20 mortar rounds during July along the border line in North Sinai. The forces also discovered and destroyed two tunnel openings in the same area.
Egypt Border guards also confiscated 300 kilograms of urea that is used for making explosives, 1,855 kilograms of hashish (cannabis) and 392,000 pills of narcotics in the past month.
In May, the Border guards announced arresting 334 illegal migrants of different nationalities as they were trying to cross the borders illegally. 1,882 kg of hashish, 2,325 kg of bango and three kg of opium, as well as 185,000 narcotic pills were seized with them.
