Egypt attorney general lauds role of prosecution in fighting terrorism

KUWAIT CITY, 2 September 2019: Public Prosecutor Nabil Sadeq has hailed as "pivotal and effective" the role played by prosecutors to fight terrorism and organized crimes.

This is the task of the prosecution as underlined by the constitution and law, Sadeq said in an interview with MENA correspondent in Kuwait City Monday.

Sadeq is currently visiting here to sign a memorandum of understanding with his Kuwaiti counterpart with the aim to enhance judicial cooperation between the Egyptian and Kuwaiti prosecution departments.

This should help open direct communication channels between the two sides and speed up procedures in order to crackdown on suspects and bring them to justice, he noted.

Sadeq and Kuwait's Darar Ali al Assoussi put their signatures to the memorandum of understanding Sunday.

Under the MoU, both prosecutions will act to support training programs and hone skills of their prosecutors, Sadeq made it clear.

It is also meant to ease the exchange of information and extradition between the two countries, he added.
