CAIRO - 24 August 2019: Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Areas Assem al-Gazar informed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly that two faculties of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transportation (AASTMT) branch in New Alamein will be inaugurated in September along with one dorm building.

Another two faculties and a dorm building will be finished before the start of the second semester. The rest will be completed successively in 2020.

The government had previously announced that four engineering faculties would be opened for students in the upcoming academic year. The academy's branch in New Alamein city spans over 62,000 feddans and will consist of 12 faculties, and 34 buildings housing learning venues, dorms, creative center, library, main building, and food court. Eighty percent of construction works are over.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held on Saturday a meeting with the officials of construction companies working in New Alamein City and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Areas Assem al-Gazar. They also visited the campus of the academy's branch that is still under construction.

The meeting’s purpose was to follow up on the accomplishment of Al Alamein Towers viewing the sea, the different residential buildings, infrastructure, utilities, and other projects.

The prime minister stressed the necessity of completing all finishing works of the towers’ exterior by June 30 urging all companies to sign a statement indicating their commitment to that target so they would not be subject to fines. Madbouly also directed the contractors to finish the construction of the roads and pavements in line with the highest standards.

The prime minister underlined that no country in the region is involved in such mega projects concurrently like Egypt. He asserted that construction companies must seize the opportunity to prove their competence and ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality products. The prime minister added that would make room for further cooperation with the government, which is already happening.

“We should make strenuous efforts for the sake of our country...We are presenting a new Egypt to the world. This is a historic phase where we must prove to the whole world that Egyptians can make great achievements in all sectors,” the prime minister said.

On his side, Minister of Housing expressed his eagerness to eliminate any obstacles that may arise in the face of construction or finishing works. He also stated that the payments of the contractors are ready. The minister hinted that the size of next projects is much larger than the ones currently being built, and that companies with the highest performance on all levels will be first selected for those.

Afterwards, the prime minister held a meeting with the minister of housing to follow up on the execution of 52 three-phase wastewater treatment plants to be established across the country.
