Madbouli discusses with heads of minibus companies production of gas vehicles

CAIRO - 21 August 2019: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting on Aug. 21with the heads of micro and minibus manufacturers to review the government's plan to expand the production of gas-fired vehicles and convert old vehicles to work with natural gas.

This movement comes to take advantage of available gas reserves and to reduce the import of conventional fuel, which incurs a huge cost of foreign currency.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Commerce and Industry Amr Nassar, Head of Transportation Division Wael Ammar and several officials in the field of car manufacture in Egypt.

The prime minister stressed that the Egyptian state is working on expanding the dependence on clean energy and reducing the use of traditional fuels, especially diesel.

"The government seeks to invest in this shift from conventional fuel to gas to deepen local manufacturing, so that new minibuses and buses are built in Egypt, as part of the government's efforts to support the national industry," Madbouli added.

In implementation of this vision, Madbouli stressed that the government intends to expand the establishment of natural has stations to supply cars across the republic.

For their part, the presidents and representatives of car manufacturing companies who attended the meeting thanked the prime minister and the government for their keen interest in deepening the local industry.

They also expressed their happiness with Madbouli's keenness to meet with them to agree on a plan to implement the vision of the government to convert cars to work with natural gas as an alternative to diesel.
